Love It!

I started this baby sweater on Friday night and I'm zooming along. The construction of this sweater is so interesting I feel compelled to keep knitting. It is the February Baby Sweater from Elizabeth Zimmerman's Knitter's Almanac. The yarn is Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport in Black Purl and I'm using size 6 bamboo circulars. I wish I could properly capture the beauty of the colors, these pictures fall far short.

Back to the construction - the sweater is knit from the top down with cleverly placed increases that create the circular yoke. Genius. The body and sleeves are knit in a lace stitch. As you can see, the sleeves are knit off of the main body and then the stitches are picked up to knit the rest in one piece. The real beauty of this design (for me at least) is in the finishing... only 2 seams. Since finishing is not very high on my list of fun things to do, this is perfect. The pattern does not really state a size, and I would guess that it is in the 6-12 months range when done.

Yikes!

Setting up this blog made me realize something - blogging could easily eat away at all of my free time. I've been playing with the formats, adding elements, etc... and lost a few hours. How did that happen? Time that could have been spent on knitting, no less! Both kids are sound asleep and my husband is busy playing Gears of War on the x-box I gave him for x-mas.

I think I'll go knit for a while now! Tomorrow I will try to post some pictures of my current projects...

New Year's Resolutions...

1. Finish more knitting projects.
2. Start a blog *check that off the list*
3. Find a new job (should be #1).
4. Start exercising...

I'm sure there are more resolutions I could make but I'll start with those 4.
